Headaches - Causes and Cures

The majority of headaches are benign and self-limiting. Causes range for tension, eye strain, low blood sugar, sinus infection and dehydration.

Rarer forms are caused from more serious conditions such as brain tumors, aneurysms, meningitis, and very high blood pressure. The brain itself is in-sensitive to pain, as it lacks pain-sensitive nerve fibers.

Head pains often result in irritation of the blood vessels and the meninges. Possibly the worst is the migraine, characterized by severe pain, upset stomach, and, for some, disturbed vision.

Other may be triggered by the tensing of facial and neck muscles. Some are caused by disorders of the neck and prolonged or sudden awkward head positioning, and usually restricts the range of cervical motion.

Other aches may be caused by factors like cold "brain freeze",or alcohol.
