Flax Seed Heating Pads - Soft and Soothing

Flax seed heating pads are an easy and safe way to alleviate aches and pains. The seeds of the flax flower are small, lightweight and smooth. The same seeds that are used as a nutritional supplement for omega –3 and fiber are used in the heating pad.

When used by themselves they do have a sight “baking Bread” smell, but tends to dissipate after a few minutes. However, many of the heating pads only use the fax as a “filler” and they add essential oils or herbal mixtures that mask the odor.

The heating pad is placed in the microwave for 2-3 minutes depending on the power of your microwave and how hot you want it to be. They can be over-heated so you do need to be cautious and observant.

Another use for the seeds is in the making of Silk-flax seed eye pillows. These eye pillows are usually scented with lavender essential oil or combined with the actual dried lavender flower. Photo

Most heating pads of this type can also be used as a cold pac. By putting them in a plastic bag and then in the freezer for a few hours or over night you have a nice – gentle-cold pack.
